Youth Radio believes that under the right conditions and with the necessary supports, young people are makers of powerful media, technology, and community. By providing hands-on production projects with top professionals and peer collaborators, we offer unique opportunities for technical, professional, and leadership development. Our programs are structured around progressive curricula, helping young people develop marketable skill sets that lead to expanded education and career opportunities.

IMPACT YOUTH HUB
Youth Impact Hub Oakland is a program at United Roots in partnership with Impact Hub Oakland and Youth SEED, the first “youth” Impact Hub in the world. Having launched in early 2015 with a Young Entrepreneurs Fellowship, the Youth Hub provides a collaborative workspace for young social innovators, offering programming and community networking while engaging businesses, agencies and organizations to support community led change. Youth participants receive professional mentorship from community volunteers, seed funding for their enterprises and are trained in job readiness through the creation of their own small business projects. Founding Director, Jared Brick of Brick House Media Coin partnership with the Port Workspaces in Oakland they have collaborated to offer a new studio space. The new group supports professionals, businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurs with a new opportunity and resources to create engaging multimedia (photo, video, audio) content all in-house. The partnership with the Port Workspaces supports the over 600 active community members and also extends into the local business community!
